Demand for Paints and Coatings to Decline from the Automotive Sector

Image
The primary purpose of paints and coatings is to prevent corrosion. This corrosion prevention comes from two sources, first, with the materials used to manufacture the coatings, and second, by using certain solvents and heat treatments. Materials used to manufacture the coatings have varying levels of porosity, thickness, hardness, tensile strength, etc., and depending on these characteristics, the paints and coatings will adhere better to the surface. Heat treatments, often referred to as catalyzing or mechanical plating, increase the porosity, strength, and hardness of the material and make them more resistant to corrosion. Paints and coatings have been the industry standard for all sorts of chemicals. Unfortunately, there are always accidents and catastrophes that can threaten the integrity and effectiveness of paints and coatings. Many industrial coatings have been classified as either "fireproof" or" Protective" based upon whether or not they contain an oil or...
