Micro Irrigation System is a Modern Method of Irrigation Worldwide

Micro irrigation, also known as trickle irrigation, low-flow irrigation, or low volume irrigation, is an irrigation method with lower water flow and low pressure than the normal sprinkler system used in landscaping, farm fields, and vineyard irrigation systems. Micro irrigation systems are used by farmers in many developed economies to reduce water wastage. Micro irrigation systems are also used in vineyards. Thus, leading companies offer drip irrigation systems, which can be embedded in pipes to simplify the installation process, improve sustainable agricultural production, and improve the economic conditions of millions of smallholder farmers.

Types of micro irrigations system are sprinkler irrigation, drip irrigation, spray irrigation, subsurface irrigation, and bubbler irrigation. Moreover, there are various advantages of using this type of irrigation system, which includes higher water yield, less evaporation, reduced water consumption, maintenance-free, and less cost of operation. The micro irrigation systems such as sprinkler irrigation and drip irrigation are the key interventions in water-saving and improving crop productivity. Automatic drip irrigation systems are used to control soil moisture, especially in greenhouse vegetables. It provides a simple method for controlling soil moisture and applying water.

Over the years, micro irrigation has become an important method of irrigation in developed and developing economies. In the United States, the irrigation business is divided into three major industries, such as landscaping, agriculture, and mining. The Italy-based irrigation company is implementing irrigation solutions to improve its efficiency to optimize resources and manufacturing processes while reducing environmental impact. Moreover, in September 2020, a Singapore-based holding company acquired an Israeli micro-irrigation company. The acquisition is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2020. Furthermore, there is an International Conference on Micro-Irrigation Systems Design in Singapore in September 2021 and 2022. This conference aims to bring research scholars, researchers, and academic scientists together to share their research results and experiences about micro irrigation systems.
