Essential Oils Offer Antiseptic, Antibacterial, Anti-Fungal, and Anti-Inflammatory Properties

Aromatherapy is the name given to a therapeutic method of using essential oils for the purpose of affecting a person's mood and/or physical wellbeing. Essential oils are a concentrated, liquefied, plant-based liquid containing various volatile organic compounds in plants. They are obtained by distillation or through a process of solvent extraction from aromatic herbs such as lavender, chamomile, geranium, jasmine, rose, and bergamot, scented flowers including orange, lemon, grapefruit, and eucalyptus. The oil obtained from these plants are known collectively as essential oils. The process of extraction requires two main steps which include a solvent bath and a filterless oil extractor. Solvent extraction is the term given to the separation of volatile organic compounds from their components via a solvent.

A number of organic solvents have been identified that are effective in this process, including methanol, ethanol, nitrous oxide, urea, propane, hydrogen peroxide, and many others. The process produces free radicals lead to oxidative stress in the skin's cells, collagen degradation, and collagen loss. Oil extraction requires an extractor that can manage and maintain all of these processes for the best possible outcome. The process of extraction requires two main steps which include a solvent bath and a filterless oil extractor.
