What is chronic inflammatory demyeliating polyneuropathy and what are its life-threatening consequences

Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP), a debilitating neurological disease that can cause inflammation throughout the body. Rituximab is being used more often for patients that have moderate to severe symptoms associated with CIDP. This is because it has been shown to alleviate the pain associated with CIDP in half of the patients that have been treated with it. The other half of patients saw a marked improvement when it was added into their treatment.

Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy, better known as IDP is a chronic, progressive ailment that can have life-threatening consequences. Its name was derived from the inflammation of the peripheral nerves, where the affliction occurs. The symptoms are extremely painful and include loss of feeling in the extremities, weakness, numbness, and even paralysis of the lower limbs. This disease is not curable and the only recourse is to wait and see if the disease does not affect the patient in other ways.

Inflammatory Demyeliating Polyneuropathy is a disease affecting the peripheral nerves with pain, numbness, weakness, and eventually, atrophy, that occurring anytime in life. Nerve roots become fragile and brittle, which leads to peripheral neuropathy. The diagnosis of this disorder can be based on medical history and sometimes on laboratory tests such as a urinalysis, blood count, or blood chemistry profile.

Napsus (Psoriasis) Inflammatory demyelinating polyneuritis is caused by damage to the myelin in the central nervous system. Symptoms usually appear after birth or when the infant is at least two years of age. Signs and symptoms of napus include weakness, lack of appetite, weight loss, lack of energy, depression, irritability, difficulty concentrating and decreased memory, constipation, and frequent urination.
Signs of meningitis include a yellowish mucus discharge, fever, loss of consciousness, seizures and increased risk of developing encephalopathy, a serious brain disease that affects the central nervous system.
